Welcome
The Heng-On (Online Historical-Etymological Dictionary of Nganasan) is the first stage of a long-term project that aims to discover the lexical affiliation and historical background of Siberian languages.
This electronic dictionary enables the users to search or browse for instance the formal and cognitive relationship between lexemes and concepts, the origin of lexemes, the characteristics of lexemes belonging to a certain semantic domain, typical or language specific pathways of lexicalization etc.
The host of the database is the Department of Finno-Ugrian Studies at University of Szeged, Hungary. The project is supported by OTKA (Hungarian Scientific Research Fund, 2012-2015).
